Sony Pictures Television Studios has promoted Lauren Stein to the newly created role of head of creative.
Stein has been head of drama development at Sony TV since 2017. In the new role, Stein will oversee drama and comedy development, TriStar Television, international co-productions, and current programming on series in their first year of production. She will continue to report to Sony Pictures Television Studios president Katherine Pope.
Lauren leads with her passion, her taste, her drive and her gift for collaboration, Pope said. I couldnt be more thrilled to have her stepping up to lead all our creative efforts, as well as shepherding newly greenlit series in their pivotal first year of production. Lauren is a highly regarded executive, and throughout her many years in the creative community, she has built strong relationships that complement her natural ability to connect with talent and nurture their most compelling storytelling. She has been instrumental in discovering and developing some of the studios biggest drama series and is always looking for material to keep SPT ahead of the curve. I know we all count on her partnership and mentorship and are cheering her on in this new role.
Stein originally joined Sony as senior vice president of drama development in 2015. She has been part of the development and production on series such as The Boys, The Good Doctor, The Night Agent, Goosebumps, and The Wheel of Time. Upcoming projects include Obliterated at Netflix and Dark Matter and Vince Gilligans new series at Apple.
Prior to Sony, Stein was at Chernin Entertainment, where she served as senior vice president of drama development. Before that, she was vice president of drama programming at Universal Media Studios. She began her television career at NBC.
