Chile’s BF Distribution Nabs Lat Am Rights to ‘El Silencio de Marcos Tremmer’ (EXCLUSIVE)1

Chiles BF Distribution, among the leading distributors in Latin America, has picked up Latin American and Spanish distribution rights to El Silencio de Marcos Tremmer with BF Distribution partners Carlos Hansen and Matias Cardone of Invercine Chile boarding the pic as executive producers.

Shot in the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Madrid, it was helmed by Spanish directorMiguel Garca de la Calera (Caribbean,All-Inclusive)and is currently in post.

The film stars Benjamn Vicua (Mienteme, Locked Up), Adriana Ugarte (Pedro Almodovars Julieta), Daniel Hendler (a Berlin best actor winner for Lost Embrace) and Felix Gomez (La caza).

Given its A-list cast of Latin American and Spanish talent, we plan to release it next year in Chile, Argentina and Spain to start, said Cardone.

Vicua plays Marcos Tremmer, a prosperous Uruguayan ad executive residing in Madrid, who is madly in love with his wife, Luca (Ugarte). However, one day, Marcos uncovers a grim truth a fatal illness that will claim his life in a matter of months. To spare Luca from the inevitable anguish, he takes a risky step: he opts to conceal his condition and distance himself from her.

The drama raises moral questions about the extent to which we can make decisions for others and the blurry line between altruism and arrogance. It delves into Tremmers decision to estrange his wife, a decision he believes is right but begins to question as the plot unfolds.

We are thrilled that BF will be in charge of distributing the film, allowing it to reach a broad audience in Latin America and Spain. Our hope is that it will eventually be available on platforms and screens worldwide, said Garca de la Calera who also produced the pic alongsideAdolfo Lpez and Hans Garca from the Dominican Republic; Flix Rodriguez and Pedro de la Fuente, Spain and Federico Moreira, Uruguay.

The five-way co-production, not uncommon among producers seeking to mitigate costs and tap the incentives of their respective territories, comprises Spain, Dominican Republic, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina.
