2023 Emmy Predictions:
Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program
VANDERPUMP RULES Pictured: (l-r) Tom Sandoval, Lala Kent (Photo by: Casey Durkin/Bravo) Photos: Courtesy of Bravo / Illustration: Variety Weekly Commentary (June 16, 2023): Bravos Vanderpump Rules, Hulus The Kardashians and TLCs 90 Day Fianc: The Other Way are among the 45 reality programs hoping to nab their first Emmy nominations. This is down from the previous three years, which had 65, 48 and 44 submissions, respectively.
Vanderpump is coming off its biggest season yet after star Tom Sandoval was revealed to be cheating on his partner of nine years, Ariana Madix (with her best friend and fellow co-star Raquel Leviss). Dubbed on social media as #Scandoval, it was a rating behemoth for Bravo, pulling 11.4 million viewers for Season 10. The first part of the reunion is the most-watched Bravo episode of any series in nine years.
Ryan Reynolds sports series on FX that showcases the actor, along with Rob McElhenney buying the football club Wrexham A.F.C., could sneak into the lineup via the power of FX.
Among the other shows in the running are former nominees Selling Sunset from Netflix and MTVs RuPauls Drag Race: Untucked, which won in 2022. Others include two TLC staples, the 90 Day Fianc spin-off The Other Way and the latest inception of Sister Wives.
Hulus The Kardashians missed out on a nom for its inaugural season, which the streamer boasted as its most-watched unscripted series. Coming after Hulu ordered 20 more episodes of the series that follows Kourtney, Kim, and Khlo Kardashian, along with their half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and their mother, Kris, a new Emmy voting method this year could benefit the TV family (no matter the eye rolls you think the public will have).

2023 Emmy Predictions:
Outstanding Structured Reality Program
Love is Blind. (L to R) Brett, Tiffany in episode 412 of Love is Blind. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix 2023 COURTESY OF NETFLIX Weekly Commentary (June 16, 2023): The general public may not be aware of the three different reality categories at the Emmys unstructured, structured, and competition or even the difference between them all. Nonetheless, consumers will recognize many of the hot titles in the mix. Unstructured shows contain story elements driven by characters actions and lack a consistent structured template. At the same time, structured has elements that mostly adhere to a recurring structured template.
The race for structured reality has 37 shows looking for Emmy love, slightly increasing from the 36 entries in 2022. Among those are two Netflix hits the dating show Love is Blind and the makeover series Queer Eye, which set the record for most wins ever in this category last year with five. With two previous noms, could the third time be the charm for Love is Blind?
In addition, Showtimes Couples Therapy and Food Networks Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives have both successfully petitioned to submit in this category and could reap the benefits.

2023 Emmy Predictions:
Outstanding Reality Competition Program
THE BACHELOR ABC Weekly Commentary (June 16, 2023): With last years winner for outstanding competition program Lizzos Watch Out for the Big Grrrls not eligible, the race (which returns to its original name this year, reality competition) finds 59 titles angling for recognition a downtick from the 81 in 2022. Among those desiring to receive a rose is ABCs two love shows, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. #BachelorNation will have to battle the talents of RuPauls Drag Race from MTV, The Amazing Race from CBS and The Voice from NBC.

2023 Emmy Predictions:
Outstanding Reality Competition Host
THE VOICE Live Finale Part 2 Episode 2220B Pictured: Carson Daly (Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC via Getty Images) Trae Patton/NBC via Getty Images Weekly Commentary (June 16, 2023): Whats a reality show without a great host? Sixty-seven emcees are vying for noms, including married couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey from Love is Blind and the Sharks of ABCs Shark Tank, Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Kevin OLeary.
Married couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey received backlash from the Love is Blind live (-ish) reunion on Netflix. Still, does that mean the show or the hosts cant get nominated for an Emmy? Of course, it doesnt. Whats an Emmy season without controversial mentions? They could be it.
Ill be interested to see if Carson Daly can nab his first nomination as the host of the singing competition show The Voice. While a four-time winner as a producer, the former MTV VJ and current co-host of NBCs The Today Show has never been recognized. That has to change at some point. Right.
