New Wet Kojak is a side project of Girls Against Boys members Scott McCloud and Johnny Temple. It isn't so much a departure from that band as it is a slight variation: unpolished GVSB with a saxophone. The music: slow, creepy, loungy noise that makes you want to fuck or flee. McCloud's raspy vocals are more raw, sounding like a confused obscene phone caller instead of the breathy seductor heard on his GVSB work. On tracks like "Get The Curse," the band speeds things up, pushing toward funk-free dance music. The tension in Nasty International mounts as the album progresses, pushing toward a climax that never comes. Ultimately, Nasty International should hold fans nicely until the release of the next GVSB album.
