Redd Kross is that rare thing, a band that isn't afraid to tackle the easy musical issues. It's just a simple four-piece group that likes playing simple pop tunes with a big guitar sound. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, especially when it's done as well as Redd Kross does it on Show World. All 13 tracks here are sing-alongable, whether you know the words or not—particularly the radio-ready "One Chord Progression" and the 17th-birthday anthem "Ugly Town." Fans of Matthew Sweet will get Redd Kross right away; these songs are catchy, and even if they aren't all that memorable, you can just play the record over again for renewed impact. Show World seems like it's designed to sell millions, and it's one of a mere handful of albums that actually deserve to.
