Very few bands would have the chutzpah to cover a song written solely to slam them. But, in its cover of Wat Tyler's "It Must Be Boring Being Snuff," the self-effacing Snuff does just that, and with as much fire as if the group members loathed themselves more than anything in the world. That's the Snuff philosophy: If you're going to do something, do it with spunk. Snuff covers a lot of other people's songs, from the reggae-then-thrash/ska version of "Rivers Of Babylon" (the authorship of which is credited to "Someone") to the quasi-traditional "Ye Olde Folke Twatte." As usual, the band brands each with a sound reminiscent of Stiff Little Fingers and other progenitors of Brit-punk. Of course, Snuff is a progenitor in its own right, having influenced a host of Southern California bands, but those bands take themselves far too seriously, forgetting Snuff's other philosophy: If it's not fun, then who wants to hear about it
