Will pause to weep for those who are absent
I will come from the scorching desert
And out of the forests and lakes
And summon on a hill in Santiago
My dead brothers.
United with those who did so much and so little
Those who want the homeland liberated
I will fire the first bullets
Sooner rather than later, without rest
Will return the books, the songs
Which were burned by murdering hands
My people will be reborn from their ruin
And traitors will pay for their wrongdoing.
A child will play in a tree lined street
