Moon is hardly alive in the sky

among the fragile clouds' stream.

Sullen sentry by the palace

watches angrily the clocktower

The faithless wife is going home,

her face is stiff, closed,

and a yearning burns the faithful,

that a dream's tight embrace doesn't quench.
