There were only pictures

Permanent and earthly tones

Petroglyphs and pictographs

The conveyance of concrete

Alphabets assigned

Their constructed design

And their uniform sounds

Advancement for humanity

Intellect gained sophistication

And the ideas of the abstract

That heredity conveyed orally

Its basis could be faulted easily

From hand written script

To the medium of print

Intellect and dexterity grew

What is said can be written

The time it takes gives time

To think about what might be

So ill words less likely to cross

And bad feelings lead to acts

Acts ignorant and permanent

Anger should not taint writing
