I wanted to write you for a long time
Although you don't do such things
And I wanted to say it to you for so long
The way I've never done it before
A part of my heart is wondering
If I've gone out of my mind or not
Would you listen to me
In my best light?1
I wanted to tell you that I
I still sing about you
Even if in my own way
I've made peace with myself
I wanted to tell you that I
No longer know whom to believe either
And that I've argued with God
Who won't talk to me for a while
I wanted to tell you that I
I will need you from now on
Now that in my own way
I've made peace with myself
Forever
There are nights when the night
Is too long even for me
And I mix in my latte
Each of my stupid reasons
A feeling doesn't last too long
That's the good thing about it
'Cause when things get rough
Another feeling has already replaced it
I wanted to tell you that I
I will need you from now on
Now that in my own way
I've made peace with myself
I wanted to write you and then
Well, you already know the rest
I wanted to write you but
I'll do it now if you want me to
I wanted to tell you that I
I still sing about you
Even if in my own way
I've made peace with myself
Forever
I wanted to tell you that I
No longer know whom to believe either
And that I've argued with God
Who won't talk to me for a while
I wanted to write you for a long time
I'm sorry if I never did
1. "The le pighe di un cielo ancora più blu" would literally translate as "in the folds of even a bluer sky/heaven" which I understand as "in my best light [for you]", or even more precisely "in a better light than the one you've ever seen me in". Yet I'm not sure if that's what it really means, and to be honest, translating it just as "in my best light" for the sake of the purely poetic phrase in Italian sounds too harsh to me, so I'd be really grateful if someone can come up with a better translation of it. Thanks.
