She entrusted me with her green plant for the summer, the African Violet,
She gave me a kiss and then she left like a flower, towards a distant beach
She had planted us here, my plant and I together, I water it
Throughout the beautiful season we waited patiently in the shade, we waited...
My plant had lost her petals and I slept horrible, it was September
We lived in a little fire, we waited every other (day), tired of waiting
I neglected it a little, she didn't want me, she understood
We thought of the crazy nights in front of our tv, we amused ourselves
My African Violet
Flowers of spring are coming about, and will leave
We rediscover in the pain
Their companions of other seasons
We were abandoned, and like the winter nights that made themselves long
I remarked at the house of friends, of lost dogs, of vagabonds
And my plant lived on cigarette butts and hairpins, she wilted
She stretched out toward the pane, watching his mistress or a little sunshine
The spring had taken a long time to bring me a nice lady
She had re-shattered my heart; she had cleaned my cupboards and put my plant in the trash
But I had saved my companion, she had returned to her hearth
We will not forget her friends were at cause of a fling that came and went
My African Violet
Flowers of spring are coming about, and will leave
We rediscover (ourselves) in the pain
Their companions of other seasons
