It’s been almost one and a half decades1
Since Loreley left hair and life here
And unfortunately it didn’t stop there
The victims increase, more and more
I didn’t even know some of their names
With this one today I count a hundred and seven
I admit, at the beginning it was difficult
My scruples and fear were strong
I cannot afford those things in the service of you
Yes, in and around the hotel traffic is heavy
A factor that conceals many a deed
But indifference certainly helped the most
I would be a star in the playhouse
Never once breaking character!
I keep to myself, I’ll never get famous
Never lose control!
Through changes we are the constants
Havoc!
We are confidants, unknown persons
Havoc!
We have come to stay
Havoc! Wreaking havoc!
You’ll never stop, that’s clear to me
You’ll never be sated, it’ll continue in this way
I remain your favorite, when I nourish you
I feel so wonderful about it
I don’t remotely care about world affairs
I’ll stay permanently in my bubble
Melting into the inventory
As a master of disguise
People rightly just don’t perceive me
Not even at close range
Through changes we are the constants
Havoc!
We are confidants, unknown persons
Havoc!
We have come to stay
Havoc! Wreaking havoc!
Suddenly the Regime changes outside
Madness spreads through every German city
With terror crafted by human hands
The boss knows2, it once was all his
Maybe the lot that he struck
Is not as bad as that of those who have been taken away
Acting a spineless man is splendid-
A perfect masquerade
The mimicry is seamless
No cracks in the facade
In these harrowing days
People disappear daily
No one dares to ask after them
Because some have come to regret it
Now arrives our time of plenty
Where a person is quickly forgotten
And feed is never scarce
What easy pickings!
Through changes we are the constants
Havoc!
We are confidants, unknown persons
Havoc!
Well aware, without a conscience3
Havoc!
It’s all the same to me whatever flag they raise4
Havok!
Through changes we are the constants
Havoc!
We are confidants, unknown persons
Havoc!
We have come to stay
Havoc! Wreaking havoc!
1. since the first album specified it was 1919, it's now around 19342. I'm uncertain whether this is referring to a the prior German political leader in this time period, or the manager of the hotel in the story3. The German lyrics on this site show a repeat of the same chorus, but this is incorrect. This line is "Wohl wissend, ohne ein Gewissen"4. Again the German lyrics on this site are showing the incorrect line. The official ASP website says: "Gleich, welche Fahnen sie auch hissen"
