Una voglia assurda [English translation]

The music industry is dead

But I've got a future because now I know how to make a pizza margherita 1

I've gone through the whole Netflix library

Now I want to binge-watch life

Nobody cares about influencers here

I've never liked live streams

My bad luck is asymptomatic

I've grown up like your girlfriend's leg hair

But this guy plays funky, this guy plays "tranqui" 2

Because now you can only slap me with your gloves on

Like music, between the highs and lows, infinite moments

Life is made of instants, but all bound together

And if I respect the distance

'Cause everything comes and goes

Then tell me why

I feel this crazy need

To be in the crowd, to shout like in a stadium

To sing "Acqua azzurra", naked by the sea 3

To go a bit crazy

To go in the streets and dance

To get into every party

'Cause, you know, who cares, let's stay here

Until dawn, with happiness in our pockets

Let's all kiss

Let's all kiss

And if I could go to the seaside now, I'd cope with everything

Even those guys with the flamingo tube float

And if I see in the sky the correspondent from “Non è la D’Urso” 4

I’ll pull my swim trunks down and I’ll show her my helicopter 5

Even the Brunori Sas’ fan is now dreaming the club and Gigi D’Ag 6

And even [dreaming] the J-Ax summer hit 7

I love city traffic

My hatred for people has disappeared like the no-vax 8

I don’t think much of the future, because I’m missing the present

And I’d like the past to be remote 9

Like in a group chat, it’s going to be all right, or is it

I only know that I’m going to love everything more

And if I respect the distance

'Cause everything comes and goes

Then tell me why

I feel this crazy need

To be in the crowd, to shout like in a stadium

To sing "Acqua azzurra", naked by the sea

To go a bit crazy

To go in the streets and dance

To get into every party

'Cause, you know, who cares, let's stay here

Until dawn, with happiness in our pockets

Let's all kiss

I feel this crazy need

To burn my shoulders

To have sand in my shoes

I feel this crazy need

Of people playing on the seaside

And they'll hit me in the face with the ball

’Cause, you know, who cares, let's stay here

Until dawn, with happiness in our pockets

Let's all kiss

Let’s all kiss

1. reference to the fact that, in order to pass the time during the lockdown, many Italians have tried for the first time to bake at home cakes, pies, bread or other Italian specialties.2. reference to one of the first hit of J-Ax, “Tranqui Funky”, at the time part of a duo called “Articolo 31” with Dj-Jad.3. ”Acqua azzurra” (“blue water”) is a popular song by Italian singer Lucio Battisti, commonly sung during beach parties.4. an Italian tv show hosted by the anchorwoman Barbara D’Urso, often criticised for the lack of quality of her shows.5. during the lockdown, on April 2020, a man walking his dog on a seaside near Venice was chased by the police, patrolling the area with an helicopter to make sure that no crowd was gathering on the beach during the Easter holidays. By chance, there was a correspondent from the aforementioned tv show on that helicopter, who broadcasted live the whole chasing. This was later criticised on newspapers, tv shows and on the internet. The lyrics are obviously a reference to the so-called "helicopter dick".6. because of the lock down, J-Ax implies that even the "hipster" fans of indie music (like that of the Italian singer Brunori Sas) would now go to a common music club with dance/house music. Gigi D'Ag (D'Agostino) is a popular Italian DJ.7. the author of this song, here, is making fun of himself. Once known as controversial old-style rapper, he has recently wrote some more "pop" summer hit.8. J-Ax is implying that the covid-19 pandemic would persuade the no-vax movement that vaccines are actually useful and harmless.9. pun on "passato remoto" (lit. "remote past"), one of the Italian verb tenses.
