The eighth bell* was struck, thick fog,
dark did the night still rule.
The Crew was sleeping at battle quarters.
The sails had been pulled up.
Lurking, quiet, hardly any sounds at all,
a breeze blows gently through the cordage.
Dimmed lanterns showed where the fleet stands.
Infinite Boredom,
Waiting for the daylight.
And the ken of the battle,
as soon as the new day dawns.
A battle it shall be until the blood (flows),
for honor, god and fatherland.
Sweep the Corsican from the sea,
before he reaches the land.
The crow's nest reports eye contact.
the enemy is standing at east-southeast...
"Set all the sails and signal -
Blokes, it begins...!"
The world is in flames,
all still lies the Sea.
The ships are collapsing...
Once taken, the sea doesn't return anything.
The Beginning of the end takes place here!
Hulls are colliding,
dreadful collisions,
There it goes, the jigger mast,
the rigging - gone!
With cutlasses and guns,
muskets crashing a thousand times.
The devil then came and took them,
five thousand men in this battle.
The crow's nest reports eye contact,
the enemy is standing at east-southeast...
"Set all the sails and signal -
Blokes, it begins...!"
The world is in flames,
all still lies the Sea.
The ships are collapsing...
Once taken, the sea doesn't return anything.
The Beginning of the end takes place here!
Seeked the enemys bullet, found,
down went the admiral!
Yet he heared about the great victory,
he passed away, in torment

* In the past it was common on ships to use bells to indicate the time and hence to regulate the sailors' duty watches. Time was measured with hourglasses. Bells would be struck every time the glass (->German word 'Glasen') was turned. Eight bells meant that a new watch begins.
