Amidst the green sodded lawns
Statuary standing sentries
The sun shines brilliantly
On pure white scripted stone
In subdued silence eternal
An homage to heroic loss
Occasional ossum tributes
Beckoning a visit to a name
Here prone without shadows
Tears roll for the memories
Their names so familiar
All wars the same dear cost
The omnipresent irony
Lost in chaotic struggle
Callimitous conflicts
Only the stillness of death
Could quiet the clamour
Its sullen senseless wake
Freedom is obvious only
To those who survived
Living yet sullied somberly
Others take for granted
A debt so dearly paid here
In this garden of stone
