I see no cause for celebration
When I look around the nations
There's a lot of rearranging
But is it really changing
Are the rich just getting richer
And the poor just getting less
I see no signs of a transformation
From that old manipulation
Some people go to war
Never knowing what it's for
Their leaders have a reason
And they keep it to themselves
There comes a time
To find out where we're going
To go on without knowing
That would be the saddest thing
There comes a time
To question those we follow
Are they thinking of tomorrow
And what tomorrow may bring
I see no greater dedication
To the need for conservation
Do the creatures great and small
Mean nothing much at all
Do we treat the world around us
Like it couldn't matter less
There comes a time
To find out where we're going
To go on without knowing
That would be the saddest thing
There comes a time
To question those we follow
Are they thinking of tomorrow
And what tomorrow may bring
So I see no cause for celebration
When I look around the nations
Are we selfish, are we blind
Do we simply fall in line
The winners are the grinners
And the losers suit themselves
There comes a time
There comes a time
There comes a time
