Tears roll down my cheeks in rivulets
They wash a warfare's tried, tired face
A mother's weeping I hear it now
Memories kept tucked away come back
A stranger sent to diminish the pain
Bewildered by the reasons that men
Could take from each other so easily
What is so very sacred to them all
Where is the justification in loss
That time and the winds have erased
What was so very hatefully important
Has washed away in the river's current
That eroding flood that subsides
Cleansing those bloody scenes
Silencing the unquenchable pains
Until men forget the carnage once more
