Every year at Christmas time
The world comes to life
Amid the cold and grey days
When spirits should be low
The Infant Jesus, Santa Claus
Christmas trees, lights, presents
Decent folks in snow and smiles
Bringing brotherhood, caring, loving
A child's perception returns
Peace on earth, goodwill toward men
Kids only play war, no politics
But like purest softening snow
Midnight fall, lasting a short while
All the rough edges of the world
Are smoothed in a silent blanket
Moonlight and stars, beyond mens' cares
Jesus grows into a man
Santa goes back to the North Pole
The Christmas tree goes up in the attic
Stacked boxes of decorations and lights
The glitter is gone, but the glow goes on
Presents get put up, useful in time
The snow melts and smiles soon fade away
The world regains a somber mood again
Only one sign of Christmas remains
Never escaping us
Clinging to our reaching souls
Throughout the passing year
It is the highest hope
It tops the tree in brilliance
Brighter than the Northern Lights
It is The Little Star
The Little Star is with us
Throughout the year's span
Even when the clouds hide it
Peering through into our hearts
Filled with love and good cheer
This star, our hope and guidance
In our hour of need, always shining
Our companion when we are feeling low
The Little Star watches down always
It spreads the Christmas spirit all year
No matter who you are, what you do
All you have to do is look up
See it, and follow in it's path
A celestial beacon shows terriestial way
An inspriration of brotherhood
Of kindness, a symbol of love
Eternally present quasar
Born of ancient times
Guiding men since then
Sought by children wondering
Sometimes a wonderment in idle times
Staring at the sky with hope
Wishing upon falling stars
All a testiment to God's might
