Seeing my picture on the wall
it drives you crazy too, ha ha
looking for my phone number
keeps you restless, ha ha
and this time I won't be your salt princess1
who covers the sea in her tears and loneliness.
[Chorus]
It hurts to be the one
to look for your phone number
and it hurts to be the one
in search of your love.
It hurts me to see you keep your eyes down
and it starts getting late and I don't know
maybe later you'll see me again,
maybe later.
It's the way that I look at you
you followed me until the end ha ha
and because you wanted to be right
you never listened to you heart ha ha.
And this time I won't be your salt princess
who covers the sea in her tears and loneliness.
[Chorus]
It hurts to be the one
to look for your phone number
and it hurts to be the one
in search of your love.
It hurts me to see you keep your eyes down
and it starts getting late and I don't know
maybe later you'll see me again,
maybe later.
Don't pretend that it's not like that (it's not like that)
flaws don't exist when you're in love (there's no love)
you never found the answer,
don't try to come back, I don't want to know.
It hurts to be the one...
maybe later, yeah.
[Chorus]
It hurts to be the one
to look for your phone number
and it hurts to be the one
in search of your love.
It hurts me to see you keep your eyes down
and it starts getting late and I don't know
maybe later you'll see me again,
maybe later.
1. this might refer the Slovak fairy-tale 'The Salt Prince' where the youngest daughter of King Pravoslav is expelled from their kingdom after she confesses she loves him more than salt (he has three daughters and asks all three the same question). The princess is then forced to search for her Salt Prince who was turned into a salt pillar and resides in the underworld.
