Kossuth, Lajos 1 (1890): 2
With fervent/eager prayer I ask the God of the Hungarians to make triumphant the everlasting Szózat 3 (The Word), which from Hungaria's lips resounds to the Hungarian nation. Let it be so. Amen!
KÁRPÁTIA:
We live in such times, that a spark is enough,
And the whole country is covered in a sea of flames (lit. flame-ocean)
Let's plant the flag, so everyone can see,
We will be Kossuth's soldiers once again
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Heey!
Wing-torn, abandoned (orphaned) bird,
Fly, fly, fly high!
No one will lock you in chains/shackles no more/anymore
Need to stand there now, now while one (you) still can,
And cursed is thou who has no Home love (love for the homeland)
Shoulder to shoulder, we stand as one in the battle line,
The cliff no longer erodes/crumbles, 4 it's forged as one
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Heey!
Wing-torn, abandoned (orphaned) bird,
Fly, fly, fly high!
No one will lock you in chains anymore
We live such times, that a single spark is enough,
And the whole country is awash with flames
Let's put up the flag, for all to see,
We will once again be Kossuth's soldiers
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Heey!
Wing-torn, abandoned (orphaned) bird,
Fly, fly, fly high!
No one will lock you in shackles anymore
Need to stand there now, now while you still can,
And curse whom has no love for the homeland
Shoulder to shoulder, we stand as one in the battle line,
The cliff no longer erodes/crumbles, it's forged into one
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Heey!
Wing-torn, orphaned bird,
Fly, fly, fly high!
No one will lock you in shackles no more
Wing-torn, orphaned bird,
Fly, fly, fly high!
No one will lock you in shackles no more
