Svirajte mi Jesen stize, dunjo moja [English translation]

That morning I arrived

By economy class

And straight home from the station

Through well know gardens and shortcuts

In the army I made a friend till the end

And arthritis in my joint

A souvenir from my days on guard

I entered on tiptoe

My mother was already awake and crossed herself straight away.

She said " it passed in a flash

You came at a good time, the wedding is right next to us,

So they will play for you,

And you will choose (the songs)

The wedding was like any wedding , what can I say- a parade of drunkenness and kitch

And the infamous lady in white

I wished them both health and happiness,

She grabbed the flowers from my hands

And hid her gaze under her veil.

And then the gypsies spotted me

The best man requested a song, but I arrived, so they didn't care.

A wide smile and a golden tooth:

" I know it's not easy for you, but don't be harsh today,

Just request what you'd like us to play"

Play " autumn is coming, my quince" an early autumn.

Let the tambourines ring as if in a trance.

I know this song is not for celebrations and weddings,

But I have to hear that romance.

Play " autumn is coming, my quince" but slowly

So I don't miss a word.

Take all glasses and pitchers away,

I'd even break the world on a whim

If only it was made of glass,

My quince

I rarely go back home and write even less often

And the photographs are fading away.

But the beautiful stand out amongst the ugly ones,

But then I order a drink and so it begins,

And I arrive at her wedding,

All true love is sad.

I don't talk to anyone about it,

The wave is quick and I know i will drown.

The gypsies are my saviours,

They have enough heart for all of us, what do they care.

They ask me, what they should play
