I want to drink this water
It ought to be my mirror
I want to sink in it
In my still water
It pulls me into the depths
Off into her lap
I've already lost myself
It will never let me go
Still waters are so deep;
Yearning is like heavy wine.
If one dives off into them,
nothing will be as it was before.
Still waters are so deep,
are so clear and cold and pure.
Whoever drinks of this water,
shall be lost within it.
And should I find something,
which nobody before me saw,
then I will hide it
in the water, deep and clear
In the depth's intoxication
I want to lose myself
And kiss your soul
And touch it
Still waters are so deep;
Yearning is like heavy wine.
If one dives off into them,
nothing will be as it was before.
Still waters are so deep,
are so clear and cold and pure.
Whoever drinks of this water,
shall be lost within it.
