Get out, put the handle (of a scythe) on your shoulders
the scythe has recently been sharpened
Bring the sharpening stone in the cloth
we are mowing (cutting the grass) for cow and horse!
Back and stomach will probably complain
over/about the long days twist and turn
While we are mowing (cutting the grass), we wipe off the sweat,
making the sharpening stone wet, spit tvi!*
We are going to mow/cut the whole field
every tuft shall be bare
We are going to shave/cut all the reindeer**
They will shine like newly cut sheeps
The butter/cultured milk in the bucket***
gives us strength when we get thirsty
If you fall behind, standing on an "islet"
the only comfort you'll get is a sneer
Grandfather is tearing his teeth out
scolding over how much the are resting
when the skin/leather people**** are raking
he get to hear how they are complaining
«The rake can't stand the grass,
your teeth (on the rake) are too weak!»
It you just are careful,
- the teeth will not come out (from the rake)
The rain showers will soon be here
Throw away the scythes! Come and gather the grass
Thougth it wouldn't rain today
Were just to turn the ???*****
The piles are standing like women's hats
very close together when the rain comes
Men and women standing and doing nothing
- hope the sun turns up soon
