If they are now unashamedly
sing Nazi songs again,
make jokes about Jews,
Laugh at human rights,
When they then in loud tones
indulge in their stupidity,
Because the Germans behind the counter
Must recover the world,
Then get up and chime in:
Say no!
In most cases a Mr. Important
sets the story straight,
From the Auschwitz lie -
Unfortunately one knows enough -
Make yourself strong and bring it up,
Show it to this stupid pig:
Say no!
Whether as a bum or singer,
Banker or idler,
Whether as a priest or teacher,
Housewife or street sweeper,
Whether you are six or a hundred,
Don't just be frightened, puzzled,
rant, be mad, bring it up:
Say no!
And when pompous gentlemen
gallantly block your way,
their gaze, as they slur,
drifts below your neckline,
When they boast of the old lady,
Which they hold at home,
For the wife is only worth
something at home and hearth,
Do not join the club:
Say no!
And when those in your school
Suddenly blabber about gays,
let Black children feel,
how they hate other races,
Teachers, rather than dying off,
coloring Germany brown again,
Then do not be afraid to scream:
Say no!
Whether as a bum or singer,
Banker or idler,
Whether as a priest or teacher,
Housewife or street sweeper,
Whether you are six or a hundred,
Don't just be frightened, puzzled,
rant, be mad, bring it up:
Say no!
[Inserted second stanza on "Gamsig":]
Even if now the smart-alecks
Use their loneliness
To mock our outcry,
Publicly prune,
We want, instead of vanity
And distracting cynicism,
to finally get together,
Finally think with the heart.
Let us cry together:
Say no!
