The shadow man watches you;

Sliding along the ground, he moves with you;

Trod on in the dust, he endures it all,

Because he has no choice.

He lies beside your bed at night,

Waiting for you to sleep;

Then he takes over your role;

He stretches his aching body and gets to his feet.

The shadow man is visible from his point-of-view,

From the darker side of objects;

You just sleep through your dreams

That happen to him nightly.

He gets around the shore's far side;

The shadow man reaches the sky;

In the morning, he once again shrinks down

And lies upon the ground to accompany you.

Sliding along the ground,

The shadow man abrades the impervious rock;

He watches you where ever you go,

Loyally following you until the sun sets.
