Khaligraph Jones & Bien
I had to find my dreams
Despite hizi struggle za behind the scene (ayo, what's up?)
And mpaka saa hii aki wallahi na-scheme
And I would rewind it all if I had a time machine (he he he!)
I lay the extra when I'm in dat zone
And right now, ya'll are rocking with who?
Sauti Sol, Papa Jones
And at the peak is where I aim for (eh!)
Ayy, you already know!
Bien
Success is poisonous
So many people keep hatin' on us
Open your eyes to the back stabbers
Open your ears to back bitters, so Jah guide us
Tulidandia matatu1
Tukachezwa kwa matatu
Ona leo tunachorwa kwa matatu
Damu, jasho na machozi tu mwanangu, uliza kiatu
I've been on the grind
So much to do, so little time
I'm only tryna get what's mine
Before nifike finish line
And I'm having a good time
(I hope I get to see you again)
(I hope I get to see you again)
When your life flyin'
(I hope I get to see you again)
(I hope I get to see you again)
You know...
They never know the story
Of us before the glory
I'll do it all again
I wish we could rewind (rewind) - ayy!
I wish we could rewind (iyeeea haha!)
Rewind (rewind)
Uh, to the times tuli hustle mitaa back in the days
I wish we could rewind (rewind)
Hata before si tukuwe mastar, before the fame
I would do it all again
Savara
'Rewind selekta!', mafans wanasema
Mouthfull so sweet na wanashindwa tu kutema
Tena, inabidi tu kumeza
Mate machungu tukiwasifu tu mahater
Cause they can never let us go
So inabidi tu-explore
Hii situation tu before, i-get toxic!
Hey, nahitaji magood vibes, in my lifetime
You're my only hope baby you are my lifeline
Keep you in my zone in a mi' lifetime
And we can make it all the way
Coz they never know the story
Of us before the glory
And I'll do it all again
I wish we could rewind (rewind) - ayy!
I wish we could rewind (iyeeea haha!)
Rewind (rewind)
Uh, to the times tuli hustle mitaa back in the days
I wish we could rewind (rewind)
Hata before si tukuwe mastar, before the fame
I would do it all again
Khaligraph Jones
Ayo, si vibe ziko positive
This' something I will live to remember, hehehe! (mambo vipi?)
Leo nina feel ka' bazenga
I'm thinking I'mma stay lit 'til December
Beside me is a shawty ready kuni-kiss nikisema (Jones!)
Kamelanin ngozi rangi chocolata
Mi' hapo kando jicho nyanya like a bobo rasta (bobo rasta)
I'm hella happy, leo sishiki moto faster
Na sijatoa tint, hizi ni effects za cocoa butter!
I remember doin' shows bila pay (ah!)
I swear it wasn't easy but still I prayed (raaah!)
Nikipiga toughees, maboyz walipiga J's
But now I got a bunch of kicks to give away (ah! he he he!)
And bro nasiringi na mafans hunipenda ata nikithrow mashilingi (chi ching!)
But leo nitatoa thao kama thirty (thirty!)
Then later, nitatoa trouser na shati (shati!)
I can even walk naked mi' sijali kwani!? (what?!)
What's there to prove ka' unajua mfuko iko hali gani? (ha ha!)
He! Me, I'm just living my life
And I'm hoping we can rewind it so we livin' it twice
OG!
And they never know the story
Of us before the glory
And I'll do it all again
I wish we could rewind it!
And they never know the story
Of us before the glory
And I'll do it all again
I wish we could rewind it!
1. A matatu is a public transport service vehicle used by many throughout Kenya & East Africa. These lines can be loosely translated to ‘we once used matatus for transport, later our music was played in these matatus and today our faces are painted on these matatus’. Kenyan urban matatus are known for blasting loud contemporary music for the entertainment of, and to attract, passengers. They are also known for the decorative graffiti of celebrities and socialites painted on the interior & exterior of these vehicles. This has resulted in a cult-like following among the youth in Nairobi on social media sites. These lines illustrate their rise to fame, the growing popularity of their music and their success generally from nothing. Indeed, Sauti Sol’s popularity has risen so much for them to be considered in the upper tier of African Musician’s as evidenced by the recent collaborations they’ve had with International musicians in this rank. Plus, they won Best Group at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2016.
