Of darkness is our ship wrought
It mocks the laws of nature
With tows, ropes, tackles,
and sails it roves the voids
On its decks a crew crimson and fell
As painted in blood
Among the cloaks and hoods
Peek silvered eyes
And eldest of all is Maltan Hiram
The Crimson Commander, he
knows the Schwartzschild radii
and neutron stars and cepheii
His routes we travel secret
Like ghosts of the void
We strike deep and vanish again
Once fear shall shirk from us
When some rest from their day
The Commander silently broods
He remembers all his years
and sorrows, his love
closes his lidless eyes
opens his mechanical fist
where a small white stone
he feels and softly smiles
