Once upon a time in a village nearby the river
Men argued who was wiser among them.
An old man was going by:
“The smartest is the one” he said
“Whose moustache is the longest”.
Well done! Let it be so from now on!
The most intelligent is Ivan the fool.
Even a sly fox has smaller tail
Than Ivan’s moustache!
Ivan set on the (Russian) oven,
Looking down at everybody, eating cabbage-pies.
Then he said:
My intellect has always been with me,
But I didn’t want to brag about it!
But now, listen to me friends,
We can’t live the way we lived before!
Living with you really can make me grow unsociable!
It’s time to have a fun!
Every day Ivan the fool organized some fun:
“Let’s live free from care!”
It looked like it wasn’t bad, but food ran out soon,
As nobody wanted to work!
The time passed by, the people went hungry,
And Ivan was hardly alive without any food.
And when people realized what it's all about,
They tore off his moustache!
