The wind whispers through the vacant hulks
It sails from heights and sweeps the dust
Swings swayed to and froe, squeaking with time
Here the land is tainted by the ambitions of men
Ghosts amid Chernobyl's legacy, an emptied past
Now an urban spectrally silent exclusion zone
A Ferris wheel decays, stilled in the air foreboding
Voiceless and unlaboured yellow cabs like lanterns
Colourful lightless lamps dangle yet soulless
Time fading fast their brilliant aspirations
Fond memories misplaced in a community desolate
School is out but the children they cried then
Never will it be as it was, changes resolute
Connections lost in the shuffle of evacuation
All that is man gone, this society whisked away
Now only cold and dulling greyed monoliths stand
Homes forsaken left alone and briefly barren
Rust gathers on the rails that came and went
Paint peels and casts to the ground like leaves
Stagnant settled waters of the clock stopped pool
Only nature's progress rallies in the stadium
Green has come back to reclaim the land
A spherical blue sky encompasses lost debris
Here radiation unsensed remains, it permeates all
Only monitors show exposure's unbroken rates
Fateful days when the their worlds changed
When our world became aware, and effected so
There are those living near in hazard's hold
Ages will come and go and this epic will dim
Unmeasurable and unknown, it will not cease
Encapsulated reactions and fission's vault
Entombed through eons wake of lost liability
This eternal monument to grand naïve might
Once driven by progress untempered, untamed
A great menace to reawaken from encapsulation
In the place forgotten and forsaken there
The wind whispers through the vacant hulks
It sails from heights and sweeps the dust
Swings swayed to and froe, squeaking with time
Here the land is tainted by the ambitions of men
