I recognised him by the black hat
He tottered into a small bar
Hey, my friend - I called him
But he didn't turn around, no
I followed him, accelerating pace
I wasn't sure if it was him
But this hat, it was so similar
To the one that John used to wear
And the bar tables surrounded by smoke
He sat at one of them
Hey, my friend - I chatted him up
But I already knew that I made a mistake, it wasn't him!
I asked him if he wanted to have a drink with me
He was silent, when I picked up two beer mugs
"Listen - I've mistook you for my friend"
- I said, turning my face away
He strangely looked at me
And replied marbly, that
No one has ever called him friend
He got up and turned away, walking towards the door
It was kinda embarrassing, I felt a strange grief
Hey, my friend - I called him
But he didn't turn around
Hey, my friend - I called him
But he didn't turn around
