On thorny stems
Are the bushes of roses in my childhood home
Those stings on the fingertips
They healed over and over again
Rain showers, thunderous winds
I know that time wasn't just
Sunshine all the time
Even though that's how I remember it now
Let there be wind occasionally
And mirror calmness on it's turn
Let there be darkness (of winter), let there be ice
And then May (=the month) again
Hot nights, dances and work
Whatever the heart can take
And the mind understand
Let that be brought (to me) by life
Clouds and sunshine in moderation
Later on games changed
and pirate money into kisses
When on the school hallways
We played at love and hate
Touches, whispers
The summer anthem [1] ended in tears
That girl with anguished feelings
I know, will be stronger from all of that
Let there be wind occasionally
And mirror calmness on it's turn
Let there be darkness (of winter), let there be ice
And then May again
Hot nights, dances and work
Whatever the heart can take
And the mind understand
Let that be brought (to me) by life
Clouds and sunshine in moderation
Tomorrow somewhere (out there)
However it will treat you
All that I've encountered already
Shall help me face it
Let there be wind occasionally
And mirror calmness on it's turn
Let there be darkness (of winter), let there be ice
And then May again
Hot nights, dances and work
Whatever the heart can take
And the mind understand
Let that be brought (to me) by life
