I remember when we were young
When no way would be too far away, and we'd get about every day
Having a flea market in front of the local supermarket
On Saturday mornings at 8. Everyone would be there
The winner would be the one with the biggest profit
And at noon we'd be back at the playground
Samir getting the ball and we'd play some soccer
And laugh about things, like an open cowshed
I remember summertime, wicked shit
A buck would get you a load of ice pop
Jumping off the 10m board at the local pool every day
At one point I really thought I'd be Sindbad
We were neither gangsters nor players*
We would bully the neigbours and the janitor around
it was an awesome time, I don't shed any tears over it**
it's just that I think of it, every day
The best time of my life, I remember,
Recall vividly how I sat in my room
Some say it was the greatest pile of crap
But I'm grateful for this wonderful time
In winter, too, we always were upbeat
I still know how to build a wooden shack
And when it got too cold in our tree house
We went to the mall for a round of PlayStation
Playing until we got kicked out
Making a run for it, since they threatened to call the cops, YO
At school I swapped sandwiches with Andre
Playing cops and robbers in the school yard
Even with money being tight we had great fun
We all wanted a pair of Nike Air for our birthdays
Even though our parents didn't make a lot of money
They still got the shoes for us because they loved us
Acting up outside and standing your ground
But then be home when the street lamps turned on
And go to bed exhausted and happy
this memory, my friend, no-one can take away from me
I still remember the first goal at soccer club
If it was about having fun I was all in on it
The first time out at teen disco
Sneaking in a smoke because we thought it'd be real cool
Though none of our parents were rich
Somehow times were easier back then
Today with some of us having kids of their own, I sometimes see you with a stroller
It was a wonderful time, no, it was the the best
And for this time I'm writing these lyrics
I remember when writing these lines
I'm Peter Pan, for I will stay a child forever
