I went to seek the love who was mine in a former life.
Your house stood at the end of a lonely street.
In the evening breeze your dress furled and unfurled
You set your lamp down by the door and stood before me.
You raised your large eyes to my face
and silently asked, "Are you well, my friend?"
I tried to answer, but our language had been lost and forgotten.
I thought and thought; our names would not come to my mind.
Tears shone in your eyes. You held up your hand to me.
I took it and stood silent.
But Our candle had flickered in the evening breeze
and died.
