ʻOumuamua
From a far and distant past, it came
Making its long journey across the blackest of void
ʻOumuamua
To our humble hearth of Earth, it reached
A message for us contained within its cold and rocky shell
ʻOumuamua
Atop our sacred Mauna Kea1and of Mauna Loa2, it streaked
Showers of stardust glitter all around
ʻOumuamua
The scout, the messenger, the first to reach, the first to arrive
Its mission, accomplished; the message, received.
ʻOumuamua
Returns to the stars, never to be seen again
But in our memory, forever remains.
