Она не знает, что это сны [Ona Ne Znaet Chto Eto Sny] [English translation]

I thought I saw the rain, though it could’ve been snow,

However, I was confused, and was unable to open my eyes until the morning.

Another moment of that, of those who pull the threads, of what is to be seen. 1

But the stairs continue upwards while spiraling endlessly -

This is our fault;

There are always too many proper words in the books, 2

But every night I see things like they were for the first time; 3

There is no one who’ll pry me from the interlaced railing. 4

However spanning across the darkness someone stares at me,

I’m not familiar with wings, she doesn’t know, that these are just dreams.

I time every one of my steps carefully, like yours. 5

And this is just another reason why we shouldn’t believe the words. 6

Similarly, every one of my letters has been read here, like it was there; 7

But I’d like to tell you, I wouldn’t let you believe,

But understand that it is true to not believe in it, that these are just dreams.

1. I hope this was translated right, this was a weird line to translate2. Interesting line3. Jesus if I had a nickel for every time a Soviet Rock song says “...see things like they were for the first time/like it was the first time” I’d be rich4. That sounds a lot more poetic than “Withdraw” or “remove”. It also gives you a lovely image of a Slav holding onto an endlessly winding staircase while people try to pry him off.5. This line is also kinda vague and confusing, hopefully I got it right6. Hm, interesting line. To me, he is timing his steps carefully because he doesn’t trust where he steps, like people told him “it is safe” but he has a suspicion that it isn’t. 7. I had to interpret this one a bit strange because it honestly was a bit weird. Not too sure how I should see it because of how, strange, this one was. To me this entire stanza is him saying “We were told this, but I don’t trust them because of that and this, but you’re with me, so what do I do?”. This is how I see it at least.
