It is said: "Music is born in Naples"
and they are surely partly right.
Sorrento, Mergellina have been sung
by everybody about a million times.
I hope no one will take offence,
if we speak a little bit about us.
Oh my beautiful Madonnina, who shine from far away,
golden and minute, you dominate Milan,
beneath you, life is lived, no one is never lazy.
Everybody sings: "You cannot live far from Naples",
but they all gather in Milan!
Now there is the song of "magic Rome"
about Nina, the Cupolone, Rugantino.
They trow [their song] "Tragic Rome" in the Tiber
They exaggerate, it seems, a little bit...
Let's hope it won't come the mania
of singing: "My Malano*"...
Oh my beautiful Madonnina, who shine from far away,
golden and minute, you dominate Milan,
beneath you, life is lived, no one is never lazy.
Everybody sings: "You cannot live far from Naples",
but they all gather in Milan!

Oh yes, come all without fear, we'll give you a hand:
the whole world is but a village - and we agree! -
but Milan is a great Milan!
