In my youth, it was so easy
to stand up and say smugly
who was sane and who was crazy,
who was wrong and who was right,
who was numbered with the angels
and who sided with the devil,
who was good and who was evil;
it was all so black and white.
But the years have taught me better:
good and evil do not matter,
they are words our masters scatter
to hide their bloody hands.
And what’s truth and what’s illusion,
what’s order or confusion,
who’s winning or who’s losing
just depends on where you stand.
There is no God - Father, forgive us
There is no God - forgive we poor sinners
There are no Gods at all.
We tried to fly on the wings of a lie,
we’ve soared so high - time to fall.
In my youth, I was so certain
that we had been chosen
to build a Garden of Eden
in every human heart;
but we’ll never build that garden,
we are greedy, fearful children
causing havoc and destruction,
’cause we’re frightened of the dark.
As the dark draws ever closer,
our fears we try to smother
by drowning them in bloody murder
of our own kith and kin.
And the stars have stopped their singing
as the world goes madly spinning,
and the devil’s madly grinning
’cause he knows he’s going to win.
There is no God - Father, forgive us
There is no God - forgive we poor sinners
There are no Gods at all.
We tried to fly on the wings of a lie,
we’ve soared so high - time to fall.
There is no God - What then do you believe in?
There is no truth - What truth are you seeking?
There is no hope - Without hope there is no meaning
There are no dreams - Why then are you still dreaming?
There is no light - The night can’t last forever
There is no love - Is that a question or an answer?
There is no God - What then do you believe in?
There is no truth - What truth are you seeking?
There is no hope - Without hope there is no meaning
There are no dreams - Why then are you still dreaming?
There is no light - The night can’t last forever
There is no love - Is that a question or an answer?
