I am well near where there is a castle,
it is so nicely adorned
with silver and with red gold,
with carved stone built up.
In this castle there is a linden tree
with leaves lovely and beautiful.
Therein lives a thrush nightingale
who sings near the midnight hour.
Oh, hear you, little nightingale,
what I have to offer?
In winter come you in my cage,
until summer and fly away if you want to.
