Looking across the lighted surface
A sky of black, stars alit
Its stellar sphere is uniform
Surface shades of black and white
Silent and stoic land of rock and dust
Pock-marked as if doodlebugs thrived
Craters varied of meteor strikes
Great events so long gone stilled
Voyagers intruded on a sea of tranquility
And their ambitions, universal come
Then to depart in novel loss
