Monarchy now, alive
I buried my tomcat yesterday,
A gift from my father
He says we are all equal before God,
Only our kaiser was more equal -
Even as a corpse
He says, no matter kaiser or führer -
All of them war losers
I silently inspect my medals,
Then many things become clearer to me
Kaisers, princes, kings -
All of them beloved monarchs
Pleased again about where
The train of time is taking them today
Give the country daring
Parades - patriarchs
Give the people the saints
That they wish for so bad
Monarchy now, alive
In a worse case scenario, if I had to choose
Between monstrous or decadent souls,
Between kingdom standards and
Schönbrunn lilacs1,
Then I'd still rather choose the Crown Prince
He may not have had his own kingdom,
But a multitude of mistresses to make up for it
It also stayed that way, in any case
In that point -
He'd be a liberal
Kaisers, princes, kings -
All of them beloved monarchs
Pleased again about where
The train of time is taking them today
Give the country daring
Parades - patriarchs
Give the people the saints
That they wish for so bad
Well, there goes our salvage guys
With flags, trumpets and shells
For the monarchs
Orient Express, Constantinople-Vienna
Give the country snazzy
Salon party plonarchs2,
Let the dissidents
Leave for America now
Kaisers, princes, kings -
All of them beloved monarchs
Pleased again about where
The train of time is taking them today
Give the country daring
Parades - patriarchs
Give the people the saints
That they wish for so bad
