Human baby, this is your planet
Here is your destination, little parcel
Friendly bundle, welcome in
May life be good to you here
Well, finally here you are ready in your cradle
You're all fresh and new and I'm crawling furtively
To you and only with a high self control I'm defeating
The curiosity to take you out there
In order to first look at you more closely
But now on your first day I satisfy myself By standing embarrassedly in front of your cradle
And by imagining, what your life might bring
May you get to know and experience everything
That ist worth experiencing and important in life
May there still be fields and trees and maybugs
When you're old enough to collect them
May there always be nails, mumbles, cords, bands
Glue, sherbet, colours and flintstones
Screwdrivers, isolation tape, plasticine and licorice
As a plenty store in your pockets
And one day the day will come when I will nervously
Sit over your homework they gave you
And I won't solve your maths exercises
For the essay I've written for you
You won't get punished if your very lucky
But in compensation for it I will
Make kites, draw pictures and fly double-deckers with you
And show you how to use solder and the piano
A few years later then after some bloody noses
After many tapes over wounded knees
After broken windows, dropped down vases
Mistaken pedagogical theories
After realizing that strict index fingers aren't useful
We'll do every rubbish together
Every grave nonsense and then we committ every foul
That up to then I have to forbid you strictly
May many things you're trying to achieve turn out good
Be happy if they turn out and don't preach
Try to bring your world a tiny bit forward
Try as much as possible to be good to your human brothers
Well, then I hope I'll be a good father
That you'll find friends who'll love you
And that you find joy in the great adventure here on earth
"Don't break your neck" - there's quite something ahead
