Three miles away sat a young man mourning

He did not think he'd ever again get a friend

Discouraged, he stared at the gray evening sky

In the distance he saw a small string of light

He rushed over stock, he ran over rocks,

through swamps and bushes and tore his leg

Just so he would not have to be alone,

he got lost on the long dark road

He ran across the field and he ran through the forest,

while the girl sat in the tree and slept

He ran through the hedges and ran through bushes,

He fought through the darkest night
