My dolls/wrists1 cry, cry,
because there's nothing left in me
of the child I was.
You stole my innocence,
when I believed in your promesses,
now I can't even believe in myself.
And my wrists will only
stop crying,
when I no longer think of you.
My wrists cry, cry,
in loneliness, in the same
room
where I listened to fairy tales,
and your hands enchanted me,
and your body made me
a woman.
And my wrists will only
stop crying,
when I no longer think of you.
And my wrists will only
stop crying,
when I no longer think of you.
And my wrists will only
stop crying,
when I no longer think of you.
When the entire ocean of your silence
doesn't fall over me,
when your heart of stone
won't hit me again,
when my body can't explode
without your presence.
They cry, cry, cry.
My wrists are crying.
Red rivers from my heart,
I'm emptying little by little
of the blood that once loved you.
They cry, cry, cry.
My wrists are crying.
Red threads are running
to my feet,
they're becoming
ribbons, of the red mantle
in which I'll sleep.
My wrists bleed wide open,
and butterflies escape from them,
they used to form my crazy soul,
and drop by drop, I'm left alone.
My wrists cry, cry,
since I know I won't be
happy anymore, and since
I understood that my hope
was holding to nothing,
and that you'll never be for me.
1. In Spanish, "wrist" and "doll" share the exact same word. So, this song has a double meaning. Every time she says "muñecas" it can mean both dolls and wrists: as her innocence dies, her dolls cry; but as she cuts her veins, her wrists cry. I only left "wrists" in the rest of the translation, to make it easier to read.
