Everybody stand up, listen
'cause daddy's home.
Everybody, let's party now
'cause daddy's home.
Hello, what's up?, how's it going?
I came to your aid even though nobody called me.
I'm what you were looking for; what you needed
to get your oppressed lifes back again...
Yeah, I know, sometimes faith is lost,
and we wait until we’re between a rock and a hard place 1
to ask somebody to have mercy on us.
Who never ever had to scream for help?
I don't want this! 2
Help! - Somebody come rescue me! 3
But now that's over...
So -
- Everybody stand up, listen
'cause daddy's home.
Everybody, let's party now
'cause daddy's home.
I'm going to lead you, enlighten you;
to try to get you out of this predicament, 4
'cause I'm the confidence; I'm the hope
that progress and prosperity will reign again...
And so together, heading forward
we'll make the change attainable as soon as possible,
and I'm not looking for power, nor privileges, nor money.
Join in and follow me 'cause it's an honest plan!
I won't fail you!
Honest! - I won't let you down!
That's why I ask you to elect me...
So -
- Everybody stand up, listen
'cause daddy's home.
Everybody, let's party now
'cause daddy's home.
We don't need any more heroes
with promises turned into deceptions,
who ask us to look for their name
under the S for "salvation".
We don't need any more of those
who disguise themselves as redeemers,
and after all have their name filed 5
under the C of "corruption".
But you'll always need somebody,
to save you from the one who came to save you before;
if not me, it'll be someone else.
Call me as you will
because I came
and I'm planning on staying.
So -
- Everybody stand up, listen
'cause daddy's home.
Everybody, let's party now
'cause daddy's home.
(Hey - Hey - Hey - Hey) ...daddy's home. (Hey - Hey)
(Hey - Hey - Hey - Hey) ...daddy's home. (Hey - Hey)
...daddy's home.
(Hey - Hey - Hey - Hey) ...daddy's home. (Hey - Hey)
(Hey - Hey - Hey - Hey) ...daddy's home.
1. Original phrase "and we wait till we're between the blade and the wall"; that's the Spanish version of this proverb.2. Original line says "I don't wanna be like this", "be" meaning "being in this state", which I think doesn't translate directly by using simply "be" in English, so to avoid having a relatively excessively long translation of the line, I chose to simplify it.3. Original line says "Somebody come for me", which I think is kind of vague in English.4. Original line says "I'm going to [...]; to try and free you from this stone" ("stone" as in "stepping stone"), which I think doesn't translate too well in English, (again, I feel it's too vague), but it means basically what I changed it for.5. Maybe I need to sleep, but I couldn't think of a way to translate this one line in a way that felt natural, so I changed it for this one, which also gives it, I think, a criminal connotation, which is an unintended plus [ps: well, the "corruption" part of the following line already offers a criminal connotation, but I mean that using "filed", sound like it's under some sort of criminal file, whereas in the original lyrics, the wording doesn't imply anywhere in which to look for these words; it may as well be a dictionary.] The original line says "And then you find their name [...]"
