Along a haunted road,
I ran out of steam.
And in the house of a woodsman,
I asked for a place to sleep.
With a kind grin
The old man let me in.
And with a welcoming gesture
He invited me to dinner.
Let it be like your home, traveler,
I won’t refuse you anything,
I won’t refuse you anything,
I won’t refuse you anything!
A myriad of stories,
I’ll tell you if you wish,
I’ll tell you if you wish,
I’ll tell you if you wish!
Outside it was getting dark,
I sat at the table.
The woodsman sat opposite,
Chatting about this and that.
The woodsman did not have enemies
among the animals -
He liked to feed the wolves!
Let it be like your home, traveler,
I won’t refuse you anything,
I won’t refuse you anything,
I won’t refuse you anything!
A myriad of stories,
I’ll tell you if you wish,
I’ll tell you if you wish,
I’ll tell you if you wish!
And the wolves of the night
Howled at the windows.
The woodsman grinned
And suddenly fled the house.
But before long he returned
With a rifle at the ready:
“My friends want to eat,
Buddy, let’s go out into the forest!”
Let it be like your home, traveler,
I won’t refuse you anything,
I won’t refuse you anything,
I won’t refuse you anything!
A myriad of stories,
I’ll tell you if you wish,
I’ll tell you if you wish,
I’ll tell you if you wish!
