I’m wiping the glasses in the back of the bar
I have too much to do to be able to dream
And in this setting too banal to cry
It seems I can still see them arriving ...
They were arriving while holding hands
The air marvelled at by two cherubs
Bearing the sun they requested
with tranquil voice for a roof to make love
At the heart of the city I do remember
They glanced at each other with a tender look
The hotel room with its yellowed paper
And when I closed the door on them
Reflecting so much sun in the depth of their eyes
That it was aching me, that it was aching me ...
I’m wiping the glasses in the back of the bar
I have too much to do to be able to dream
And in this setting too banal to cry
It was body against body they were found ...
They were found still holding hands
Eyes closed onto other mornings
Filled with sunshine they were lying
United and quietly in a dug bed
At the heart of the city and I do remember
Having closed in the early morning
The hotel room on the one day lovers
But they planted deep in my heart
A taste of their sun and so many colors
That it is aching me, that it is aching me ...
I’m wiping the glasses in the back of the bar
I have too much to do to be able to dream
And in this setting too banal to cry
There's still the sign outside ... room for rent ..
