This morning I played marbles
I went after some girls
And I took my time
I hung my heart
To the flowers' thorns
And I won quite often
Tonight, I'm pushing away with my cane
The leaves of the plane trees
Under the cement benches
Amidst the cigars' smell
And the sound of my
Grandchildren's guitars
I ran, I ran, I ran, I ran
And time was leaving
I ran, I ran, I ran...
And all the time I spend
Sitting at the same place
Only moving my eyes
With my old tunes
And my woolen scarf
Even when the sky is completely blue
My voice always gets misty
The fear of catching a cold
Or the noise of the planes
And in the nearing cold
I'm afraid the bells
Will soon be singing my name
I ran [x4]
And time was leaving
I ran, I ran, I ran...
You, my child who I love,
You, who has so many sorrows
Sit down for a while
No matter who's leaving you,
Just tell yourself that time passes us by quite fast
And that dust is waiting for you
You see, those misery-filled arms
Have travelled all around the world
For a girl from this town
They made the tables
And beaches of sand
And packs of wolves explode
We felt so good [x2]
That we were almost lost
We were so high
And so beautiful
That we don't recognize ourselves anymore
We ran [x4]
And time was leaving...
We ran [x3]
This morning I played marbles
I went after some girls
And I took my time
I hung my heart
To the flowers' thorns
And I won quite often
Tonight, I don't have any problem anymore
Everyone loves me
But it's not like it used to be...
For there is the end of my cane
The leaves of the plane trees
And it's autumn all the time
For there is the end of my cane
The leaves of the plane trees
And it's autumn all the time
You, my child who I love...
