Once, in time's shoulder
A spring's light shone on us
Over a meadow, dew, we ran
Hid in dark vales
Once, in time's shoulder
Winds, clouds our people
That carried thoughts noble
Deep rivers secret.
Beyond the lightwall
Out of speed's reach
Abides the emptiness common for us
Gray rooms of reality,
Abandoned farms and roads of iron,
All this cold that can reach us.
Spring, somewhere, you there
hear the heavy water's sound
Wait the colours, scents return,
Walk the yard angrily.
But the Spring speaks not,
herbs, flowers wither to yesterday,
You think of the End of all,
Autumn and dark distances
On the gate of the light wall
Faces pounded unto metal
In their expression calmness unending
Those expressions bronzen
Unchanging and strange
Show the horror that never ends.
But it is a dream, just a dream,
All is a dream here, far away,
Beyond all comfort
Benighted of beauty's shores
But it is a dream, just a dream,
All is a dream here, far away,
Beyond all comfort
Benighted of beauty's shores
Yea as the council's elders
wished to experiment on me
I took the assignment and vanished
On the prow of their finest ship
