[Maurizio Merluzzo] 1
Cod sticks?
[Mark the Hammer] 2
Tuna pasta...
[Maurizio Merluzzo]
Cod sticks!
[Mark the Hammer]
Tuna pasta!
[Maurizio Merluzzo]
I said...cod sticks!
***
Fish it, bread it, freeze it
Put it in the refrigerator aisle
Fry it, garnish it, plate it up
On Italians' tables!
Freezing fisher
He has no pity for cods
Experienced 3 buccaneer
He'll drag his fish net
Against the Coast Guard
Wanting to investigate his misdeeds
In spite of the fishing ban
He'll use his lure to raid
He gives no escape to the prowns 4
He clears out every mackerel 5
And he'll turn it into a golden stick
Fish it, bread it, freeze it
Put it in the refrigerator aisle
Fry it, garnish it, plate it up
On Italians' tables!
Captain Birdseye versus the rancid Ass do Mark 6
Captain Birdseye, the Scourge of the Seven Seas
Always ready for the adventure
And for the cruncy bread crust
He's Captain Birdseye, bread crumbs and freedom! Arr!
The scourge of every coast
He has no equal
His crew is the toughest
Ready to chum 7
His keel is a shell 8
Designed to ram
With fragrant and deflagrating
[Fish] sticks to board [the ship] 9
Like a wave his batter
Will crush Lord Riomare 10
And the admiral Bofrost 11 is shrimping out! 12
Fish it, bread it, freeze it
Put it in the refrigerator aisle
Fry it, garnish it, plate it up
On Italians' tables!
Captain Birdseye versus the rancid Ass do Mark
Captain Birdseye, the Scourge of the Seven Seas
Always ready for the adventure
And for the cruncy bread crust
He's Captain Birdseye, bread crumbs and freedom!
One is the cod fillet! [2x]
Two are the crab claws! [2x]
Seven are the seven seas! [2x]
A hundred and sixty are the grammes of tastiness in olive oil! 13
His cabin boys are minors 14
But there's nothing to worry about
They all have waivers
Signed by mum and dad
Then again, the captain
Does give them a bit too many caresses
But it's not from things like this that you can judge a fisher 15
Captain Birdseye versus the rancid Ass do Mark
Captain Birdseye, the Scourge of the Seven Seas
Always ready for the adventure
And for the cruncy bread crust
He's Captain Birdseye, bread crumbs and freedom!
He's Captain Birdseye, bread crumbs and freedom!
1. Italian voice actor and Youtuber. His surname literally means "cod", and his beard and muscly figure makes him look like the younger version of Captain Birdseye, the mascot for a frozen food brand known in Italy as Capitan Findus. The brand, called "Findus" in Italy, is best known for his battered cod sticks.2. Italian musician and Youtuber. His actual name is Marco Arata.3. in Italian "navigato" means "experienced", but it was originally used for sailors, as it literally means "who have sailed a lot".4. "scampo", in Italian, both means "escape" and "prown".5. "sgombro", in Italian, both means "clear out" and "mackerel".6. pun on "As do mar", a brand of canned tuna. "Mark" is a reference to Mark the Hammer (see the second note).7. pun on the word "pasturare", which means "to chum" (throw baits in the water just to attract more fishes in the area where someone is fishing). Used as a slang, it means that when there are many girls (a party, a concert etc.), someone is hitting on many on them, hoping to have success at least with one, regardless of which one.8. pun on "chiglia" and "conchiglia" ("keel" and "shell").9. "arrembare" is a specific term for pirate attacks on ships.10. Rio Mare is another brand of canned tuna.11. In the lyrics, the singer says to a boy who plays football: "don't be afraid of missing a penalty kick, it's not from these details that you can judge a player".
