La Gringa [English translation]

On October the 12th, the day I was born

It was the spring of new times

I was a girl of the field and wet soil

Running after her dreams, firmly *treading through the earth I loved

My great grandmother came from Italy

One barefoot and one in a *slipper

The Cinderella of our tale

The inspiration for the song that still carries her accent

If you ask about me, I'll tell you

I'm the rebellious girl who sings of *Guarany

If you ask about me, they'll tell you

People have always known me because I've always been here

I am La Sole and I wear my poncho the way I want to

Because my people have always believed in me

And even though *the sun of my flag has browned my skin

They call me La Gringa of Santa Fe

1. I changed the wording a little to sound more poetic.

2. She is speaking most probably of "Il Guarany"

3. The "sun of my flag" since the Argentinean flag has a sun on it.
